Killed 8 gloom rats and found zero rat tails in CastleVille
Hello friends, I have killed total 8 gloom rats and after that also I found no trails. After killing them, I am just getting the energy and the occasional bone. And so, by doing this I am just wasting rat potions as well as clubs. Is there someone else with the same problem. If yes then please post over here. I will be thankful to all the replies for this.

I think that this will be better if your friend comes with and he kills them for you in place of you trying to obtain them. The drop rate rises if this is done by your friend rather than yourself.

I would like to tell you that you will not get any gloom rat tails on the last hit of the rat, only the 1st otherwise 2nd hit. Therefore, I am not very sure that if using a wood club would work to get the gloom rat tails. I generally get a gloom rat tail after each 2nd rat.

The best way to get gloom rats is by buying gloom rat potions in the market for 5 reputation. Or sometimes you can get them from fishing with bait. It's easy enough to gain reputation if you have quite a few neighbours. Zynga took request feature away. You can't request the gloom rat tails anymore. But I got this from some other method. The best trick in getting them is not to use any powerups (clubs & such) when banishing them. I killed 9 rats & got 6 tails. If you don't get 1 from the 1st one you summon then move spot & summon again. Also having all the potions you need in your inventory before you begin. Get them and do a refresh. It worked for me and so I hope that it will do the same for you also.

If you want 23 on differing quests then each tail must count towards all different quests, unless it takes em away? I have killed 15 now by hand and just found 3 tails in the first 5 rats. There was nothing in the last 10 rats, This is the reason that I am going to give it a break and see if I can find some tomorrow. I had 12 tails before this all started. At least I don't require to sell or use some to make room, the limit is 20 tails. I hope that this will be helpful for you.

I think that this quest is big time broke. Earlier I banished 8 rats to obtain the massive total of 2 tails, then real life and I went shopping. I just came back to try for the rest and I now have a total of 0/6, where did those 2 tails go, this quest really sucks.

Earlier to this quest every time I went to harvest a rat would pop up then I would kill it and it would drop a tail. Get the quest sell rat tails so I have room to collect for quest. But now I harvest harvest and harvest but there is no rats resort to potions 55 potions to finish quest. If anyone still thinks that is random coincidence they are crazy. Now I am doing same thing with thieves. Best way to keep beasties out of your kingdom and have a quest requiring collection from them.

I got 6 out of 13. Obviously I would prefer better rates but that wasn't too bad. I didn't do anything special though like use a club or anything. Also, someone did suggest that if you don't get a tail in 1-2 hits when you start trying for them, you might want to try another location. When I summoned the first rat I didn't get anything. So I moved to a different location & had better results.

I think that I am the luckiest man here that I got 6 from 7 potions. Below is my method for this.
Summon 1 rat at a time, not 3
Hit rat then wait until 'reward' appears and then hit again, rather than 3 swift strikes.

I have did the same way earlier as you mentioned but I stopped counting after 20 rats. I know I ran through all my energy and almost all my reputation. Obviously from these posts the drop rate needs to be adjusted to that everyone has fair share to get them. 20 rats for 1 person and 6 rats for another really is not fair.
